Black Friday By Hand

I know the holiday shopping craze is coming. I'm not too big on waking up early to stand in line for a deal. I don't really have any idea what I would stand in line for, but perhaps it's out there.
This year I would just like to you to keep in mind some hand made goods. Sometimes it's impossible to buy all handmade for everyone on your list, but I really believe in supporting people who live off of their passion.

Above I've highlighted two people that I personally know who both have amazing handmade skillzzzz! The beautiful platter, bowls, and dooda is from my super talented friend Leah. I cherish every piece I have from her. They are so original and the craftsmanship is beyond my ceramic comprehension.
You can find so many wonderful handmade items in her Etsy shop Spirit of the Rocks. If you are in Colorado you may want to stop by her gallery, and check out her web site.
The adorable knitted items are from my Shannon's etsy shop - Crafty Like Katie. I helped her photograph these items so I've held them and let me tell you they are soft and beautiful. She even takes custom orders.

There are so many other lovely sellers of handmade goodness out there that I highly encourage you to seek out. Redvelvet art, is a one stop shop for all things vintage and handmade, Etsy home page is like a rotating gallery of goodness and you can find many different ways to search for that perfect gift.
I'll highlight some more Etsy favs later this holiday shopping season, but I just wanted to get everyone to start thinking about supporting handmade this season.
Let the shopping begin!

Need To Give?

I know this time of year is a very conflicting time of year in the donate department. Often money is tight with travel, gifts to get, food to buy. With the added bonus of constant reminders about what we are so blessed to have, that it makes it so easy to dig into our pockets and give.
Donorschoose.org gives you a chance to select what is near and dear to your heart. Take a look, maybe let the kids help you choose, and give if you can. My mom was a teacher and I know first hand how much money she would spend so her classroom was a place of learning. There were some things she would rather go without herself so her class could have a new board game, art supplies, posters, or even special gifts for special kids.
I really feel if we stop complaining about all that is happening in education and step in and give, there will be much less to complain about. That is all.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

Halloween was enjoyed by all. The chicken left the chicken on all night.

The butterfly flitted about and collected more candy than any butterfly every collected.

This one stayed in character all night, even though no one knew who the heck he was.

Afro Samurai. (Fake smoke, fake cig, and a little fake fluff to the fro).
Hope everyone had a safe and fun evening.
